Background
We are living in a cycle of distrust and an epidemic of loneliness. Most of us are addicted to using GoogleMeets, FaceTime and Facebook. We are being told virtual and augmented reality can be as good or better than reality itself.
We used to enjoy being left to our own devices but now we seem to be left lonely with our device. During the Covid pandemic, we stopped meeting and working together in person and the trend has continued.
When we meet in person, without technology, we connect on a level which will always be far superior to connecting online. When we practice playing gracefully with ideas, instead of arriving at a violence of opinion, we lay solid foundations for human progress.
🔍 Vision
Life is Meeting becomes an elephant, not a unicorn by democratising access to fascinating, affordable in person, moderated meetings all over the world. We also create a new type of content which cannot be found online. Content which empowers the reader to think for themselves.
We are known for high quality moderation, curation and content creation. We have 148 extraordinary founding members who build with us, starting with a commitment of $1k per year. In return, we offer them equity in the business for their first $1k as part of our pre-seed round. The terms are per a standard SAFE agreement.

Progress
Life is Meeting started April 18th 2023 because our founder, Alby Shale, was tired of being wired, unsatisfied from meeting people online and frustrated with expensive conferences and close minded classrooms which left no space for people from different backgrounds to play gracefully with ideas.
Since our inception, we have recruited 56 founding members, hosted 24 in person meeting experiments in New York and LA and got into the top 10 on Substack for education.
100+ people have already become paid subscribers. 20+ want to host repeatedly. We are also beginning to train moderators because there is clearly demand for in person, moderated meeting and eagerness to play gracefully with ideas.
We are now doing a meeting a week and we are only just getting started…
